About S.W.A.M.P.
Who is SWAMP?
The South West Area Modelers of Plastic are builders of aircraft, auto, armor, figure,
ship, sci-fi and warhammer scale models.

Every January, we host the Calcasieu Model Contest and Exposition, CALMEX.  On
that Saturday we transform the Managan Center in Westlake, Louisiana in to the
state's largest hobby shop.

IPMS SWAMP, while a small in size, has a very big heart.  Every year we donate
proceeds from CALMEX to the Children's Miracle Network and provide a donation
station for models to give to the Wounded Warrior Project at Brooke Army Medical
Center in San Antonio, Texas, which aids in the rehabilitation of our proud service
men and women.  Through this project, we have also adopted a wounded warrior
who spent time at Brooke Army Medical Center and is now stationed at Ft. Polk,
Louisiana.

We are one of seven IPMS/USA chapters in Louisiana.  What is IPMS/USA?  It is the
International Plastic Modeler Society.  Being a chartered chapter, this enables us to
meet and learn from scale modelers from around the country.

Membership in IPMS/USA is not required to join SWAMP, but it is encouraged.
